My RULEBOOK

俺自身は、がんが再発したといってもじたばたしてないよ。若い頃は体が弱くて、下手すりゃ肺病かなんかで20代で死ぬんじゃないか、40まで生きればめっけもん、と思っていたからね。それが67歳だ。たいしたもんです。しかも、がんだからね。ありがたいやね。

だって、人間は死ぬときゃ死ぬ。だけど、がんは告知もあるわけだろ。ところが、交通事故なんて、いきなりあの世だ。それに比べれば、心の準備も身辺整理もできるんだから、文句はいえないよ。

まァ、突然死のほうがいい、という人もいるだろうね。気がついたら死んでたってやつね。ただ、俺だってね、“がんなんてどうってことない”とか、健康のことなんか気にしないといいながら、医師から“肝臓の数値がよくなっている”といわれたら、急に元気になるもんな。

やっぱり、考えている部分はあるんだ。強がりをいってんのは、俺の知性の部分であって、やっぱりいくらかの未練はある。人間とはそういうもんですよ。
